Large Vintage Lanvin Pink Red Green Yellow Silk Geometric Scarf with Irish Linen Cushion Pillow
Huge custom made one-of-a-kind luxury cushion (pillow) created from an exquisite vintage Lanvin of Paris fashion scarf in dazzling geometric pattern. A dramatic eight pointed octagram star formation made up of sections of bold triangluar block colours in bright red, pink, green and zesty yellow surrounded by vibrant black and white stripes. A gloriously punchy ‘power scarf’ with strong expressive lines. The special eight pointed star is a symbol of both the Mesopotamian goddess Ishtar and the Roman mythological goddess Venus. An extremely unique find from a Parisian antiques market. It is particularly lively and colourful example from the brand. This huge zesty print appears to almost pop out from the cushion like a optical illusion and would make a spectacular and showpiece to an interior.
Note the signature ‘Lanvin Paris’ logo sitting proudly on the bottom right in a pronounced band like a ribbon across the corner. Made of beautiful twill silk, sumptuously soft to the touch with a visible diagonal grain and texture. With a wonderful luscious and subtle sheen to the silk, this flamboyant oversized cushion is backed in new 100% pure Irish linen in pristine white, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo wadding, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw colour of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful mottled effect.
Founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1889, Lanvin is the oldest couture fashion house still in operation today. Originally trained as a milliner, Lanvin made such beautiful clothes for her daughter Marie-Blanche de Polignac that they began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people who requested copies for their own children. Soon, Lanvin was making dresses for their mothers, and some of the most famous names in Europe were included in the clientele of her new boutique on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris. Lanvin's skilful use of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations became a Lanvin trademark.
A contemporary cushion (pillow) constructed with antique elements by using fragments of precious fabric.
